Hong Kong: Friday 7th November

flight: long, tiring.

airport: quick.

Michael: took all our luggage and Winifred home.

bus to downtown Kowloon: James, Aya, Niamh and Oskar; good sightseeing, got off too early.

first taxi: driver spoke no English, not confident he can find our destination.

second taxi: first taxi driver apparently also not confident (?), didn't want to cross to Hong Kong Island. second taxi got us there.

Michael, Penny and Sibylla, and Izzy the dog: made us most welcome. gorgeous house. yummy bread of which the kids demolished 3 slices of toast each.

rest: for the rest of the morning.

lunch: homemade pizza. yum!

the peak tram: went out mid afternoon (all except Michael, who had to work) on the peak tram. wondered why the seats face you up the hill (ie backwards). it's to stop you sliding off them as the way is so steep.

sightseeing bus: open topped, saw lots of taaaaaaaall buildings.

star ferry: to kowloon. cool breeze most welcome. tired kids. stopped off at McDonald's to keep them going. ferry back to HK Island.

the lanes: no, not brighton, this is HK version. got shorts for Oksar.

the new American restaurant: dinner with Michael and Winifred's brother Jamie, his kids Samantha and Ben, and their partners Wes and Jenny. delicious Chinese feast including the pigeon stuff. kids very tired though and Oskar fell asleep on my lap.

home again, home again: tucked kids up on couches in sitting room, asleep within seconds. only Penny, the kids and I home at this stage, the others came back later but I didn't hear them.
